石油工程英語之英譯中的特點和技巧

石油工程是一個比較大的工程板塊，涵蓋地質勘探、油氣鑽採、油氣集輸和儲運、油氣加工處理、油氣產品銷售、合同與標書等幾大部分。

工程英語的特點是嚴謹，語言和技術都要求嚴謹。石油工程英語中大多數句子結構並不複雜，但翻譯時也有仔細斟酌，不能隨意增加和消減原文要點，但需要時必須利用重複翻譯和增加解釋才能把原文含義表達清楚、準確。

句型主幹：provide …for…with… ，用……為 ……動力， 其被動式be provided with…在工程英語中也比較常用。lrotary rig 旋轉鑽機或稱為rotary drilling rig, rig in rotary drilling,是相對於鑽井早期的頓鑽鑽機而言，即rig with cable-tool method （頓鑽法）

名詞+過去分詞的用法：

air/ electricity/ battery-powered 氣動的/電動的/使用電池的

(2) Most of these generators have capacities of 50 to 100 kilowatts，although larger units are sometimes installed．

these重複翻譯出來，指的是上文提到的AC發電機，與其它場所中的AC發電機區別。

capacity 發電能力

兩種翻譯：即「儘管…，但…」或「……不過」

(3) The generators have enough capacity to carry the main power load of the rig (excluding hoisting，pumping，and rotating functions)．

is held in ready reserve 是 hold sth in reserve（擁有……作為備用）的被動式，這裡翻譯時轉換成主動好一些。

(5) AC electricity is used for rig lighting，shale shaker motors，mud pit stirrers，centrifugal pumps，rig instruments，engine-cooling fans，air conditioning for bunkhouses，and other purposes．

be used to do sth 被用來做……與 be used for doing sth. 被用於做……是有區別的：

如： The shale shaker is used to remove the largest cuttings. 振動篩用來脫除最大顆粒的巖屑。這裡The shale shaker 是remove的執行者。

Cement can be used for building roads.水泥可用來修路。這裡從cement不是build的執行者，因此這裡不能使用be used to do sth結構。

而be used for sth 是被用於……

bunkhouse = camp house 營房 camp boss 營房經理
