上一篇文章中我們提到了有關「face」的一個表達，不知大家是否還記得，「A slap in the face 打臉」除了指正常行為上的「打一巴掌」外，還可引申為「打臉」，即某種行為使某人現處境地很尷尬。
slap： to hit someone with the flat part of your hand ，即用手打了某人。

1、a slap on the wrist
英英釋義：a punishment that you think is not severe enough.
即表示一個你認為不怎麼嚴厲的警告。
所以a slap on the wrist是指一種比較輕微的警告，只用到了「wrist手腕」，而沒有用到hand。

2、a slap on the back
這次又用到了back，那是什麼意思呢？
英英釋義：an action of hitting someone on the back in a friendly way, especially as a way of praising them.
打某人的背部，指作為一種表揚的方式，即「鼓勵、表揚」等。
想想某人敲打你的背部，一般都是長輩，比如老師們，表示對你的一種認可的行為。
We got a slap on the back for staying late at work.
我們因工作到很晚而受到了表揚。
3、slap on
英英釋義1：to put or spread something quickly or carelessly onto a surface.
是指「在表面上迅速或隨意地放置或塗抹某物」，所以有「隨便穿上，胡亂塗上」等意思。
英英釋義2：to suddenly announce a new charge, tax etc or say that something is not allowed – used especially when you think this is unfair.
突然宣布一項新的收費、稅收等，或說某物不允許使用——尤其是當你認為這不公平的時候，所以slap on還有「斷然拒絕」的意思。
