最近老聽到漢語中"蠢", "笨", "傻" 這幾個詞彙，dumbbell ['dʌmbel] n.啞鈴;<美俚>蠢人;笨蛋;傻瓜)和chowderhead ['tʃaudəˌhed] n.<美俚>傻瓜，愚笨的人; 這兩個詞侮辱意味較濃，因此不能隨便用在朋友身上。 用川渝地區的方言講就是"瓜P", 大致等於北方的"二百五"。我們還常見到的表"笨，傻，蠢" 意思的詞彙有"idiot", 「fool 」, 「stupid 」, 和「silly 」。
*** Silly這個詞貶意最輕，內含自嘲的意思，口語用詞，近似於「腦袋有點轉不過彎」，表示智商沒問題但某時某地頭腦發昏。一句口頭禪就是：「How silly of me!」 意思是「我好遜」。
*** Fool這個詞比Silly重一點點，內含被他人"一根筋"的意思，稍微缺乏常識與判斷力，或指行動的愚蠢可笑。應該還不完全算貶意。
*** Stupid這個詞就比較確定的貶意了，用這個詞兒說人，就是真說那人是傻瓜！
*** Idiot這個詞最狠，最難聽，相當於中文白痴或SB的意思，其實就是一位智障。
