在管制員的ICAO英語考試中，需要用到「指揮飛機」這個說法的地方不少。我們的學生好像對「command」這個詞特別有感情。每次給學生測口語，都被這個詞狂轟濫炸！
本貼就總結幾個英文中，表達「指揮」這個意思的詞語。這樣下次考試就可以多幾個選擇，使表達更豐富。
首先是指揮飛機，不涉及讓飛機具體做什麼。
1) An air traffic controller is a figure who monitors and guides air traffic.
管制員是監控和指揮飛機的人。
2) The ground controller coordinates aircraft and vehicle movements on the apron and taxiways.
3) Approach controllers handle departures and arrivals in the terminal area.
4) The departure controller controlls flights with radar and microphone from takeoff to the airways.
指揮飛機做某事，首選instruct，始終用這個詞都可以：
1) The controller instructed the two aircraft on a collision course to change heading immediately.
2) Realizing the risk of runway incursion, the tower controller instructed the departing aircraft to abort takeoff.
